lands ex-Cheney aide with 10 years in jail
A former aide to Vice President
Dick Cheney and President Clinton is heading to jail for
10 years for passing top-secret US documents to plotters
scheming to overthrow the government of his native Philippines.
Leandro Aragoncillo, a 48-year-old naturalized American
who also served for 20 years in the Marines, was sentenced
Wednesday after pleading guilty to passing classified
information on to opponents of the current President.
Ousted president Joseph Estrada, who has been under house
arrest pending a verdict in his corruption trial, has denied
allegations that he was part of an anti-Arroyo plot designed
to return himself to power.
Last year, he admitted having received emails from Aragoncillo
but said "this information was mostly culled from
local newspaper clippings" and contained nothing
secret. But Estrada, along with his ex-police chief and
now Senator Panfilo Lacson and former House of Representatives
speaker Arnuflo Fuentebella, were named by US prosecutors
as "un-indicted
co-conspirators" in Aragoncillo's case.
US government officials declined to say if Estrada continued
to figure in any Department of Justice (DOJ) investigations.
But they said that Aragoncillo had been guilty of the most
shocking breaches of trust.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation's lead agent on the
case, Weysan Dun, said Arangoncillo's sentencing in New
Jersey "brings
to a close a harmful and disgraceful story of how a formerly
trustworthy FBI employee and US Marine can turn into an
enemy of the American people and the American way of life."
According to the U.S. department of Justice, Aragoncillo
admitted that his espionage continued after he left
the White House in 2002 to become an FBI intelligence
analyst stationed at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey.
Former Philippine National Police officer Michael Ray Aquino,
41, was jailed Tuesday for six years and four months after
channeling documents purloined by Arangoncillo from the
US vice president's office back to associates in the Philippines.
Aquino held the position of Chief Superintendent when Lacson
was the head of the PNP. Aquino, facing murder charges
in the Philippines over the November 2000 killing of
publicist Salvador “Bubby” Dacer
and his driver Emmanuel Corbito, was said to have fled
to the United States and then co-opted Aragoncillo into
the plot to undermine the Arroyo government and return
Estrada to power.
The pair were arrested by US authorities in 2005. The DOJ
said that Aragoncillo admitted to having met co-conspirators
at Manila's Malacañang Presidential Palace four
years earlier.
Aragoncillo pleaded guilty in May last year to four counts
of conspiracy to transmit US secrets, transmitting secrets,
unlawful retention of secrets and unlawful use of a government
computer.
He was also fined 40,000 dollars for his actions, which
included stealing classified information from the office
of the US vice president from about October 2000 to February
2002.
Aragoncillo served as staff assistant to the vice president's
military advisors under first Al Gore and then Cheney,
and had "top secret" security clearance, a
DOJ official said.
Some of the documents he procured were marked top secret
and related to terrorist threats to US government interests
in the Philippines. Others detailed Washington's assessment
of the Philippines' shaky democracy.
"Those charged with protecting the nation have a special
responsibility to maintain their oath of loyalty to the United
States," assistant Attorney General Kenneth Wainstein
said.
"As a former US Marine and FBI analyst, Aragoncillo
betrayed that oath, violated our espionage laws, and now
must suffer the consequences of his actions."
This spy scandal goes to show that no matter how much checking the issuers of the security clearances were a Philipino does what naturally a Philipino normally does, betray. It is one of a mired of undesirable endemic characteristics they have!

of The Philippine Islands that he will take over the government

has plundered and amassed nearly one billion dollars already!
Over 870 million dollars were proven in documents in 2005 showing
his many bank accounts, yet the American embassy has not asked
for him to be jailed and extradited. "The company" will
use its influence to protect a Philipino, but not use its influence
to help Protect Americans kidnapped in a the corrupt Philippine Islands'
judicial system.
It's about money! Charges are brought by Flip Senators against another Flip Senator. The
guilty is embarrassed and offer part of their ill-gotten wealth
to the Senators on the committee and suddenly it stops being
reported and charges are never filed. They were paid millions
to leave him alone.
This is the way life is in The Philippine
Islands. The third-world baby is what The Philippine Islands
is and always will be. It's the leaders and the people have become
like their leaders.

The United States Embassy, immigration section simply gives hundreds of legal visas to the President, hundreds to her her husband, hundreds to the drug protector, Mikey Arroyo and many other high ranking P. I. officials.
These officials then sell these visas to the highest bidders! Each visa usually beings them 300,000 pesos!!
Any person can get one if they have the money! Any terrorist can legally enter America and stay for a year or ever how long the time is for the visa!
How smart is that? Damn, you embassy officials are doing nothing more than bribing the President and other high ranking officials!
